The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is a collective of passionate individuals who want to do something about MS now – moving together and relentlessly pursuing prevention, treatment and a cure.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic illness usually diagnosed in early adulthood and the National MS Society understands the difficulties people experience when faced with physical disabilities. That’s why we at the Michigan Chapter created the da Vinci Awards® – to foster innovation and hope. Each year, the awards recognize the most innovative developments and research in adaptive and assistive technologies that help people overcome physical limitations.

Proceeds from the da Vinci Awards® benefit the National MS Society, Michigan Chapter and support our mission to create a world free of MS. Michigan has one of the highest incident rates of MS in the country, with more than 18,000 people living with MS in the state.

The National MS Society mobilizes people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. We have made great strides in MS research – 20 years ago, there were no disease-modifying drugs – today – there are 10 FDA approved drug therapies for people living with MS. In addition to funding research initiatives, the National MS Society provides programs and services to those with MS and their families, including financial assistance, seminars & workshops, scholarship programs and self-help groups.
